STEAMBOAT SPRINGS TRIATHLON
Course Description

Swim Course: 3/4 mile
The 3/4-mile swim in Lake Catamount will be well marked by large orange buoys. Wetsuits are highly recommended, with an anticipated water temperature in the low 70’s.

Bike Course: 20 miles
  • Exit the TA parking lot of Lake Catamount (near the boat ramp), going right on CR18/Pleasant View
  • Right on 131 toward US-40
  • Before reaching US-40, at approximately 4 miles, left onto 14F
  • Right on River Road – a beautiful stretch of road – until the turnaround at Howelson Lodge Parking Lot, approximately ¼ mile past 5th
  • Return on River Road, making a left on 14F and a right onto 131
  • Continue on 131 back to CR18/Pleasant View
  • Left on CR18/Pleasant View to the TA
There are no major hills on this beautifully scenic route, which features riding along the Yampa River, and offering spectacular looks at the mountains that grace the area. It begins with a nice gradual downhill on 131; however, that translates into a, maybe, not so nice gradual uphill back to Catamount. There will be 2 Aid Stations along the way, as well as Police and Course Marshals. USAT rules will apply. It is your responsibility to be familiar with all USAT regulations (see www.usatriathlon.org).

Run Course: 4 miles
The 4-mile run will leave the TA with a left on CR18/Pleasant View, and continue until taking a left on 18C. At 2 miles, there will be a turnaround, and you will run to the finish on this out-and-back route. Again, no major hills, and it is all paved. We will have 2 Aid Stations on the run; but, that will afford support perfectly at miles 1, 2, and 3.

Gatorade Endurance Formula Will Be On-Course
  • There will be 2 Aid Stations along the bike course and you will have three Aid Stations on the run course. Gatorade Endurance Formula will be served at each of the Aid stations.
  • Based on years of extensive research with elite and endurance athletes, Gatorade Endurance Formula contains a unique five-electrolyte blend including nearly twice the sodium (200mg) and three times the potassium (90mg) of Gatorade Thirst Quencher as well as calcium, magnesium, and chloride to help you better replace what you lose in sweat during longer and more intense active occasions. For more information about the Gatorade Endurance Formula, go to www.gatorade.com/endurance.
  • Water will also be served at each aid station.
