2008 BOULDER PEAK TRIATHLON
Race Information

Email updates will be sent to all registered participants periodically. A final race update will be sent approximately 10 days prior to the race. It is important, therefore, to let us know of any changes in your email address.

Schedule of Events

Saturday, July 19
10:00am - 4:00pm Boulder Reservoir - Race Expo, Packet pick up. Teams must arrive together to receive packet
11:00am; 1:00pm; and 3:00pm - Mandatory athlete pre-race meetings at the Boulder Reservoir. All athletes must attend one meeting. No race day registration.

Sunday, July 20 - Race Day!
5:00-6:00am - Athlete check-in, body marking, rack your bike
6:20am - Transition Area Closes – No exceptions!
6:30am - Triathlon Start - First of 12 Amateur Waves
7:25am - 12th & Final Age Group (and Team) Wave Start
8:40am - Swim Course Closes
11:00am – Bike Course Closes
8:45am - Women’s Pro Challenge Start
9:00am - Men’s Pro Challenge Start
9:00am - 12:00pm: Post-race food, massage, drinks, music & expo
11:30am - Awards Ceremony
12:15pm – Run Course Closes

Packet Pick-up
There will be no packet pick up on race day. Packet pick-up will be at Boulder Reservoir between the hours of 10:00am and 4:00pm on Saturday, July 19th. If you are unable to pick up your packet on Saturday, please contact Jodee@5430sports.com a minimum of one week prior to discuss other arrangements.
You must bring your valid USA Triathlon card and a valid photo ID with you to packet pick up!
You will receive three numbers at packet pick up. The numbered sticker must be on the front of your bike helmet. A bicycle frame number must be attached to your bike where it can be seen by officials. The bib number must be worn on the front of your body during the entire run portion of the event. Body marking will take place on race morning prior to the race start in an area located just outside the transition area. You must be body marked before the transition area closes.

Teams
All relay team members must arrive together in order to get their race numbers, chips and packets. please contact Jodee@5430sports.com a minimum of one week prior to discuss other arrangements.

USAT Membership
You must bring your valid USA Triathlon card to packet pick up. If you do not have your current card with you, you will be required to sign up and pay for a one-day license at the event. This option is also available at the time of online registration. If you have recently purchased an annual membership, you may go the USA Triathlon website and print a temporary card which will suffice for the event.

Mandatory Pre-Race Meeting
There will be three mandatory pre-race meetings the day before your race (11:00am, 1:00pm and 3:00pm) - you need to attend one. The meetings will be held during packet pick-up at the Boulder Reservoir. Valuable information regarding the event will be presented and you will have the opportunity to ask questions.

Transition Information
Transition area opens at 5:00am. Bikes will be racked at that time and any gear for the bike to run transition will be placed near your bike. There is no required bike check for the event. The transition area is closed to spectators – no exceptions. Following your massage, after the race, transition crews will assist you in claiming your gear. All bikes must be removed from the bike lot by 1:00pm. You must claim all your gear as you exit on race day. We are not responsible for lost items.

Lost and Found
Our designated Lost and Found area is in the Information/Volunteer Check-In Tent. Please check there before leaving the event if you have any missing items. Should you find that you have returned home with some gear that is not yours or that you are missing something, please email jodee@5430sports.com immediately. We will do our best to get your items back to you. All Lost and Found will be kept for one month following the event. After that time, they will be donated to a local charity.

Wetsuits
Wetsuits are highly recommended! The water temperature is expected to be between 68-72 degrees in July.

Aid Stations
There will be two aid stations on the bike course and one every mile on the run course. The bike aid stations will have bottles of Gatorade Endurance and water bottles. The run stations will be fully supported with Gatorade and water. Please help our volunteers keep the countryside clean and the residents of the area happy by discarding empty gel packets, water bottles, wrappers, and cups at the aid stations while racing! Thank you!

Bike Course
The roads are open to traffic. Ride on the right hand side of the road unless instructed by a police officer. Please use the portable toilets that are available at the race sites and on the race course. Please be courteous and respectful of the neighbors, farmers, and folks out on the roads!
Now, in its third year, a 35mph speed limit will be strictly enforced on the major descent on the backside of Old Stage Road. We will have police officers and course marshals monitoring this.

Run Course
The run course takes place on dirt roads and trails at the Boulder Reservoir. There will be wildly excited volunteers to help with anything and everything you need or request.

Prizes and Awards
All prizes and awards – for both Age Group and Professional – are equal for female and male. Unique hand-made trophies are given to the first, second and third place finishers in each age group as well as prizes from our sponsors. If you are unable to stay for the award ceremony, we will hold onto your trophy for one month after the race, please contact Jodee@5430sports.com.
Professional Prize Money
$35,000 total. The Boulder Peak prize money is only available to Professional athletes with a current and valid license who participate in the pro wave, likewise pro athletes are not eligible for age group prizes. The purse is equal between men and women.
1st Place $6,000.00
2nd Place $4,500.00
3rd Place $3,000.00
4th Place $2,000.00
5th Place $1,000.00
Professional Primes
$250.00 for first out of the water both male and female Pro. $250.00 for the first Male and Female Professional to the top of Old Stage Hill $1,000.00 for the first pro across the finish line.
Age Groups
Awards to the top three male and female finishers in each of the following age groups: 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70 and up
Clydesdale/Athena Division
Males over 200lbs. and females over 150lbs. Prizes will be awarded to the top three Clydesdale and Athena finishers. We will have a weigh in at packet pick-up.
Teams
There are three divisions of teams: men's, women's, and coed. Teams of 2 or 3 competitors may race in the triathlon. Prizes will be awarded to the top two teams in each division.
