Are there any 5430 Duathlons this year?
No. We discontinued the duathlon at the 5430 in 2005. The Boulder Peak made a similar decision a few years prior.
What is the new “age group rule”?
In accordance with USAT policy, all participants at our events will race using their age as of December 31, 2008. Thus, if you will be 50 on November 23, 2008, you will race as a 50 year-old at all of our events. This is the method USAT will be use in its final year-end rankings going forward.
What is the minimum age required to compete in an adult triathlon?
A participant in one of our adult triathlons must be at least 14 years of age.
Do I Need Race Insurance?
Yes. In accordance with USA Triathlon requirements all competitors at all USAT sanctioned events must have a USAT license. To obtain a license, which is $39.00 annually, visit their website at: www.usatriathlon.org. You may also purchase your one day license when you register either online or via a mail in application or at packet pick-up for $10.00 per person. USAT members must present their current membership card at packet pick-up, or they will be required to purchase a one day license. You may apply the $10.00 you pay for a one day license to the $39.00 annual fee if you send in a copy of a cancelled check and/or the receipt from the one day license.
What will the water temperature be for the race?
Although, we can not be sure of the exact temperature of the water on race day the typical temperature of the Boulder Reservoir for the Sprint will be in the upper 60’s, for the Peak expect the water to be between 68° & 72° and the Long course is typically between 70° and 74°. The water temperature of Lake Catamount for the Steamboat Springs Triathlon should be between 66° and 70°.
