Working Partners

Start Global Cooling
we’ve partnered with Clif Bar and their Start Global Cooling campaign to sell Cool Tags ($2 renewable energy credits from NativeEnergy) to racers and fans. Each Tag keeps an estimated 300 pounds of carbon dioxide (CO2) — the main contributor to global warming — out of the air. That’s roughly the same as neutralizing the global warming emissions generated from traveling 300 miles in the average car. For each $2 Cool Tag sold, CLIF BAR invests $2 in NativeEnergy’s WindBuilders program, helping the Rosebud Sioux Tribe build the Rosebud St. Francis Wind Farm in South Dakota. Wind farms deliver clean, renewable energy to the grid without releasing CO2 into the air — thereby displacing energy that comes from polluting facilities. Start Global Cooling.

Eco-Cycle
we rely on Eco-Cycle’s consulting expertise and logistical support to make all 5430 Sports’ triathlons and running races Zero Waste events. Eco-Cycle is one of the largest non-profit recyclers in the USA and has an international reputation as a pioneer and innovator in resource conservation.
Eco-Cycle was created 30 years ago by everyday residents who had a passionate belief in conserving our natural resources. These Eco-Cycle volunteers brought recycling to town in 1976, making Boulder one of the first 20 communities in the U.S. to offer curbside recycling. Eco-Cycle continues to be driven by these same passions and innovative actions. www.ecocycle.org.

Eco-Products
To plan waste out of its events, 5430 sports will be purchasing corn-based compostable utensils and cookware from Boulder-based Eco-Products. 5430 sports will also be asking its vendors to follow suit and come to the event with compostable materials. www.ecoproducts.com.

Whole Foods
Whole Foods has provided 5430 Sports with re-usable shopping bags made from recycled plastic, to replace the typical plastic bag used for race packets. Whole Foods also has supplied organic and natural food for the post-race meals. www.wholefoods.com.
